The ecosystem of student innovators is the backbone of DIL’s work. There are many opportunities for graduate and undergraduate student participation, both directly through DIL and through supporting programs at the Blum Center for Developing Economies and Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA), the Lab’s joint headquarters at UC Berkeley.
Student Opportunities
From courses to fellowships, DIL provides many chances for interested students to learn about and make meaningful contributions to development innovation.
Designated Emphasis in Development Engineering
DIL has designed a new interdisciplinary training program for doctoral students interested in merging insights from the natural and social sciences in order to achieve meaningful development impacts.
Support for Innovation
DIL supports innovation teams throughout the product/program design, implementation and scaling phases through dialogue and mentorship.
Big Ideas@Berkeley
The Blum Center’s annual Big Ideas@Berkeley Competition is expanding in scope and geographic reach as part of DIL.
